On May 23, 2006, the Seminole County Medical Society presented the 2006 “Dr. Luis Perez Scholarship” award to an outstanding young lady - Jessica Gardner from Seminole High School. Jessica will attend Seminole Community College, where she will begin her preparation for a career in nursing.
Jessica is a dedicated animal lover, and a volunteer for the Southeast Border Collie Rescue Society. Her favorite sport is horseback riding, which she has done competitively since age four. To help with the expenses of this sport, she works part time at the stable, where her duties include grooming, riding, exercising and training horses that belong to others, cleaning stalls, driving the tractor to spread stall waste, and other general barn maintenance.
She has been a member of the Seminole High weightlifting team for four years, and the lacrosse team for three years. She feels her involvement in all these activities helped her realize that hard work and dedication are essential to achieving any goal.
The Seminole County Medical Society congratulates Jessica on winning the 2006 Dr. Luis Perez Scholarship.
